You get a great history of the groove, lots of transcribed examples, technical exercises, and a helpful CD as well. As a long time electronic music producer, this book gave me some incredible insights into both what I was doing while programming drum patters, and how to improve them. The way the book addresses a dual-audience (live drummers and programmers/producers/"finger drummers") is novel and very well executed, and the examples are not only clearly explained, but end up presenting a great discography as well. Of all the books on technique and production in my library, this might be the one I think is most valuable and has the most information one can't get easily just by looking online. Absolutely a good purchase.

Fantastic book that walks you through the fundamentals ("elements" as the author calls them) of the breakbeat style, and includes numerous examples of classic beats together with recordings. The history lessons and biographies of the genre's key players are alone worth the price of admission. I have to point out, many of the exercises may seem simple, and my 21-year old self would probably have said "Why am I wasting my time on this junior high-level crap? I need to be learning Virgil Donati licks!" My older and wiser self understands the importance of taking an elementary approach, truly understanding the style, and executing its components with precision and with the right feel. Use a click, humble yourself, start slow and really get the exercises down perfectly and make them really groove. It is harder than it looks. Excellent, excellent, excellent!

Love the grooves in this book.It really makes practicing fun when you are learning cool grooves. I got tired of practicing from books that have tons of beats that you would never use or enjoy playing; that is not the case here. Great format and grooves.

As so many others have said, this book is the best, truly the bible! I love the history, love the elements, love the exercises, love the 8 bar phrases. My only concern is will the binding hold up to so much use, as you will use every page of this book. Just get it!

A must have for drummers of all levels. I really came to appreciate the genius of Dave Garibaldi among many many others who form the foundation for funk, rock, hip hop, R n B, rhythms.

If you're a hip-hop head and/or any drummer interested in hip-hop, funk, and other breakbeat-based music look no further! This is an extremely impressive and comprehesive work by Mike Adamo. Beginner to advanced drummers, your groove without a doubt will become tighter and funkier by playing the exercises in this awesome book. The transcriptions section of classic breaks from James Brown to The Meters and contemporary breaks from J Dilla's production on the Pharcyde's "Runnin" to ?uestlove's breakbeat outro on The Roots' "You Got Me" are worth the price of the book alone. I was kicking myself for not buying this book sooner--don't sleep!

This book is so comprehensive. The beats are DOPE. It does a great job of keeping you engaged and feeling like you really accomplished learning to play some dope beats. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who loves breakbeats, funk, and hiphop

For the most part, this book is awesome. There are lots of pictures to help you to see what you need to do. There are lots of patterns. But sometimes the words just aren't very clear. Other than that, this book is pretty awesome. I would recommend it to anybody just learning how to make paracord projects.

This book is worthless - needed one basic piece of information for making a paracord braclet - how much cord will I need to make a bracelet - this information is nowhere to be found in this book - it would also be helpful to know that if a wrist measures 8 inches an 8 inch braclet will not fit - if all you need is a book of fancy knots this is for youFirst time I have purchased a kindle item and felt absolutely cheated

Great photos and instructions. I like the quick release band instructions. This also included info about making paracord products that I would not have considered such as shrinkage amounts for different colored cords.

I bought this book for lanyards. but its more on knot tie-ing it wasn't what I wanted it for... I think the book cover is misleading my fault

Most academic books don't have the page-turning quality of this one. Though I've spent a lot of time in Walmart, reading this book really gave me a chance to reflect on my experiences there and learn some new things in the process. It's obvious that the authors really did their homework on this one. They keep your attention by richly describing the life paths that bring people to work at Walmart, how Walmart "associates" (as they are called) understand working there, and the enduring importance of social ties for associates both on and off the shopping floor. They also discuss the simultaneously arbitrary and centralized management of Walmart and the labor organizers who walk the aisles trying to build solidarity among associates. 1 million-plus people currently work at Walmart in the US so if we want to understand something about America, we should seek to understand something about Walmart. This book is a great step in that direction!

When trouble and threats come from an unhinged client will they finally admit their feelings for each other or will they get a chance. A great story that will keep you turning pages to see how things pan out between this older man and innocent but giving woman. The story flows flawlessly with character that have chemistry and fit together. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and purchased a copy for my favorite collection as well.

Aria started working as a platonic companion when she was in college to help pay her expenses. It became something she was good at so she did it after she graduated to pay off loans before she finished her education. She has a steady client base and enjoys what she does. Brady saw her leaving a friends place and immediately wanted to know everything about her. When Brady met Aria for the first time sparks fly between them and he wasn't about to lose his chance with her even if he had to be platonic until he convinced her otherwise. Aria loved calling him her daddy and very quickly things got serious between them. However Aria gets some problems from a client that became serious and with Brady's help she tries to get through it. What will happen when their time is over? Will Brady claim Aria as his own?This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them will just about melt your kindle. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

I read most of “MY FAVORITE DADDY” while waiting in a doctor’s office, with one of the Indiana Jones movies blaring in the background. Having that theme song running in the background while Brady and Aria find an alternate activity at the boring gala, gave the scenes a bit of a boost toward incredulity, yet at the same time made the action somehow more magical. I absolutely loved this novel! I laughed, cried, had to pace a bit when things became chaotic and a bit scary, but mostly I smiled as I read about Aria and the wonderful man who became her Daddy. “MY FAVORITE DADDY” speaks to the magic of love, and how it can help a lonely man find a renewed purpose and how it can take a frightened girl and wrap her in safety. Author B.B. Hamel writes with an enticingly eloquent and descriptive prose that pulls her readers into the lives and loves of the most amazing characters. In “MY FAVORITE DADDY” readers are privy to the inner angst of those characters as Hamel uses dual narration to give insight to the choices and decisions they make, and then places them into circumstances which accelerate the relationship and build a strong trust and reliance between them. While I voluntarily read an early ARC copy of “MY FAVORITE DADDY” to prepare this honest, voluntary review; I plan to purchase a copy of it to support a WONDERFUL Indie author! This is one intriguing story about Aria, a young woman in her 20’s who has a very unique job as a companion to men without any sexual relations. This started back in college to earn money to help with all her expenses and Aria still finds it rewarding. In order to keep herself safe she has always keep her professional and personal lives separated. One night Brady sees Aria leave a friends house and after several attempts he finally wears his friend down to get her number to hire her as his companion. Brady breaks the rules one by one and Aria finds herself losing control of the situation/relationship as it develops. From the first moment they meet the sparks fly and Aria pushes Brady away only Brady does not give up and pushes for another chance and he makes all the right moves and gets what he wants, 1 week with Aria and she needs to call him Daddy and Aria gets 5 million! They spend their week learning and having some intimate experiences and it becomes something real before they know it. Once trouble comes their way Brady is very understanding and only wants to keep Aria safe and he does exactly that when confronted by danger. Brady is an older man and he has taken what he went through in life and finds the one thing that will make him truly happy is being able to take care of someone.
