The title of this review is not too serious. However some may find the racism jokes in bad taste; I didn't have much of a problem with them except for the bus full of black people going over a cliff "joke", for some reason didn't find it remotely amusing (no matter what race). The blonde jokes were lame.I wasn't expecting brand new jokes/insults I have never heard before but most of these were played out and boring. The ones that were good would have to be studied to remember them since they were so long. The one liners were great, I know a few people who deserve them, but it would most likely make enemies.Overall It was nice to read and mostly amusing. Maybe before being around people I don't like I'll read up on a few just in case ; )

I know the book tells to only use them jokingly or if someone is really annoying. I expected a good laugh out of this book. But having been bullied in middle school, some of these still sting pretty good.... either for myself or other poor souls who would go home with hardly no self esteem left. If you are the least bit sensitive, better leave this one alone.

Some really great insults that made me laugh 😄. Insults to me can be a really funny 😄 jokes and others cannot stop laughing - and thinking up people they want to try them out on. I really Loved this short book and got some great milage on some of the jokes/insults.

A lot of insults in this book are funny. But, this book is not for everyone. Not everyone will think this book is funny and may get offend. I didn't find to much in this book I could use but I did enjoy reading the insults. I was looking more for status for Facebook but I can't use these because they really are insults!

I like to talk a bunch of crap to my friends and co-workers all the time. I have so far found at least one good insult to use on every one I have come into contact with today. It leaves them rolling their eyes at me and every one around us is just standing there laughing. Really funny jokes in here.

I found most of the insults really funny. I am planning to throw those lines (as a joke) to my friends for a good laugh. It's nice to get a good laugh once in a while. I'm glad I bumped in to this book.

I enjoyed reading the funny insults, though I have heard some of them. Worth reading & putting them to use.

I know I'll catch a lot of flack for it, but I have to give this book one star. There is literally nothing in this book that you cannot find with a simple google search and to be honest your search will come up with more useful hints and tips. This book is for people who have literally no experience with social media in any way shape or form. The author holds your hand through the setting up of facebook and twitter accounts and then basically encourages you to follow rich people, curators, museums and galleries and to ask them for money.There is one story in particular that stood out to me. He tells of a friend that had a printing company and he asked his friend to print a bunch of fliers for him for free. His friend told him that wasn't feasible for him as he couldn't afford to do it. So he wrote his friend off as a jerk. He later found someone that would print something for him for free because that person was clever enough to figure out how they could exploit the author's show or whatever (him and his wife cleaned feet and handed out bandages) for money. This guy was a good guy. Can you hear my eyes rolling? After that gem his book read less like he wanted to help and more like he was condescending to the reader. The majority of the stories are his personal stories rather than case studies of those who have used his methods (were there any methods in this book?) from his workshops. So the whole thing comes across as a vanity book more than anything else.The advice he gives is kind of sound. It's basically this: Know rich people. Exploit them. See a gallery you want to be in? Contact them. Want something for free? Contact people. Also get to know more rich people. If you don't know rich people stalk them on facebook. Oh and use kickstarter.I will say this, in case it was lost in the diatribe above, if you are absolutely clueless as to how to even set up a facebook account this book may be helpful to you.

Same book, different writer. Target audience is too vast, so a good part of the book is wasted on teaching beginners social media- why is that? Most people understand how it works by now and its benefits. If not, you are wasting your time trying to teach them, those are the closed-minded people (a.k.a technology dinosaurs) who never want to learn, anyway. I don't want a book where I have to skip chapters...I recommend picking a niche and targeting that audience for your book- it may be smaller, but the results are better- instead of trying to reach every artist at every level (then you get tough reviews like mine).Another big part of the book is about the author promoting himself-boring and annoying to some extent. Confusion about who the author is: an artist or a mentor? The impression I get is that of someone who is not that successful at either one by trying to be both. All the techniques mentioned to do not work for all types of artists.I do not agree with pursuing flaky people for months, unless they hold the key to major deals. I would recommend you translate the time you invest in pursuing the flaky people into dollars invested, and instead of pursuing these sort of people, you can instead spend your time pursuing more people who are professional and reliable, it may be a better return on your investment.I did like the examples of how some artists became successful, some of the social media strategy examples, and the Kickstarter story- I would recommend more such stories. Clearly a book for beginners, but a waste of money for artists who are seasoned marketers.

I felt the how to just wasn't there. The author points to among other things, the use of twitter, ebay and Facebook but he stops short of beginning to discuss how one might take advantage of these sites. For instance, I know I can post my artwork on ebay but are there ways to do that more effectively. And how would one go about maximizing what ebay, twitter and facebook can offer. I do agree that the book may be more geared to those just beginning or for those who have been stuck in promoting there work in one or two ways but if you've been around a while and have a facebook account or an ebay account and have a little know how, there's not much more that the book offers. Yes, there is a section on the use of art fairs, studio tours, public art and advertising on the web but again, there's not much depth and the author doesn't get into the "how to" which I was hoping for. Sorry but for me it was a disappointment.

Very beginner text for artists. I mean, who isn't already trying to use the internet to show their work? And the text is so big, I think the author was just trying to fill page space. Also, the chapters are disorganized and redundant. Unhelpful for even someone like me, a recent college grad with not even emerging status. I returned it immediately.

Very basic info re mostly how to open up facebook, tweeter accounts etc, maybe good for people who don't know anything about social media, was a little bit disappointed as i was looking for more

As someone interested in marketing for the theatre with a solid knowledge of what a "like" button is, it wasn't that useful.

My brother, who is a sculptor can use this information. I am going to refer him to this book. It is so interesting I can barely put it down. I generally do not like to read a long series like this, but i am pulled in by the story and characters. Looking forward to seeing how all this turns out. Just bought book 8.

I cant say enough about this series. Its just that good. The translations are a bit odd and humorous at times but the story is so good it almost adds to its charm.

The whole series flows well and I really loved it. Couldn't put it down once I started

Congratulations to Wo Chi Xi Hong Shi for this amazing series. It’s hard to stop and take a break. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in their books.

I've really enjoyed the steady power ramp. Each volume or small arc has a bit different type of story. Still an excellent read. The translation makes for very easy reading.

J. Kēhaulani Kauanui, currently an associate professor of Anthropology and American Studies at Wesleyan University, has had numerous essays published in various books including Recognition, Sovereignty Struggles, and Indigenous Rights in the United States: A Sourcebook; Decolonizing Native Histories; and Beyond the Frame: Women of Color and Visual Representation.In this, her first book, she pulls no punches in her analysis of the American empire and how it has operated in Hawaii. She argues that blood quantum racial classification is used as a proxy for ancestry, with destructive political consequences for indigenous peoples. Her primary focus being on the legal construction of Hawaiian indigeneity in order to analyze the implications for historical claims to land and sovereignty, an argument she more than backs up.While the book revolves around the passage of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act of 1920, chapter one serves as context, contrasting how Hawaiians use genealogy to determine if one is Hawaiian as opposed to the “blood quantum” method devised by the law. As the author notes, the blood quantum method is designed to displace “the indigenous form of identification.” (38) Furthermore, she notes that genealogy plays a crucial role in Hawaiian political representation, which would account for why the U.S. government did (and continues to do) everything it can to discredit this and come up with an alternate method of determining who is and is not Hawaiian. (63) Chapter two also serves to contextualize the HHCA by discussing “issues of depopulation, rehabilitation, and land entitlement, as well as those of race, indigeneity, and citizenship.” (32) As Kauanui notes, land which was to be used for rehabilitation of natives was the land sugar plantation owners wanted to keep as their “leases were soon to expire.” (69) Chapter three details the first hearing on a proposal of rehabilitation before the House Committee on Territories. (33) Chapter four discusses the second hearing, in which the issue of just who is Hawaiian is debated. At the heart of this is a discussion of racial mixing and assimilation. Interestingly there was a proposal (it did not pass) to set the blood quantum at 100%. Chapter five looks at how the HHCA was recreated (and the advent of the 50% rule) in order to get it to pass Congress. Chapter six details the implications of the HHCA on contemporary Hawaiian politics.This is a very well written argument which is quite easy to follow for both the specialist and the lay reader alike. Kehaulani’s argument is easy to follow and she conveniently points out what she is arguing not only in the introduction to the book, but in the introduction to each chapter. Indeed, she lays her case out in lawyer like fashion, moving methodically from one piece of evidence to the next, transitioning expertly and reminding the audience of the relation to the overall argument. Best of all, you do not need to be a specialist in the history of the US (or Hawaii) to follow along.

The book's informative & supports what has & is happening in Hawai'i. It shores up the reasons why the Hawaiian people people are at a disadvantage, especially when it comes to land & land holdings. The United States action that led to the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy complicates the land issues relating to the Hawaiian people's rightful claims.The USA's disregard and discrimination toward Hawaiians is appalling, embarrassing to me & many others who thought we served a just and rightful government as veterans and citizens, only to find out that the government casually, and forcefully discriminates against ethnic groups, as in this instance the Hawaiian people for the benefit of a few and the benefit of certain populations who are monied. The author empathizes the racism and inequality practiced in America's past history and present day practices! Blood quantum is a practice used to ensure Hawaiians will continue to lose land rights today & in the future.

Native Hawaiians are genuine, lovely people, and American presence is destroying their land.

“Twilight in Los Angeles” by Anna Deavere Smith offers insights from people who have lived through the riots in Los Angeles of 1992. Those riots broke out as protest against police brutality. The case of Rodney King was brought to court and the judges ruled that there was indeed violence and use of excess force with a deadly weapon. A year later in 1992, the police on trial were acquitted of the charges against them and riots broke out all over Los Angeles as the African American community were outraged at the decision.“Twilight LA” is told through many perspectives of individuals who lived through this time. These people may or may not have been involved with the riots, yet they were still affected by them. They tell the stories of themselves, family members, friends, all whom have been affected by the riots. Smith allows the readers to view this event in history from many perspectives and form their own opinions about it.Personally, I loved how many sides of the story she was able to collect. This was a mutual way for this event to be brought to attention. Everyone in The Los Angeles community was affected. This is a fantastic example of the diversity in California. I think. It also represents why people of different races thinks the way they do. In California there is a lot of stereotyping that goes around that eventually leads to some sort of racism. “Twilight LA” is able to bring a little reason into why and how some people (i.e the Korean Americans) feel about other communities (i.e. the African Americans). One line that stood out for me was from Mrs. Young-Soon Han. She says, “I wish I could live together with eh Blacks, but after the riots there were too much differences. The fire is still there how do you call it? Igni..igniting fire. It's still dere. It canuh burst out anytime” (Smith 249). This offers one person’s perspective on how she was affected by the riots. She did not participate in them but she was definitely a victim of the results. So after what part of the African American community has done to make her think this way, she continues to stand with her opinion on them and cannot really agree they they are a “Los Angeles community.” Another line that stood out comes from Rodney King’s aunt, Angela; she says, “We weren't raised like this. We weren't raised with no black and white thing. We were raised with all kinds of friends: Mexicans, Indians, Blacks, Whites, Chinese. You would never would have known that's something like this would happen to us. And now it's such a shock” (55). This reminds us that California has mostly been a pretty diverse state. People like Angela King acknowledges that there was a time where people did not care about race and that a community is one whole no matter the kinds of people that live in it. She also speaks of being “not raised like this.” This can represent so many things she spoke about in her section. I think. The most important was that this state was not raised to hate so seeing something like police brutality splitting up the diverse community is very disappointing for her. She also says (to her nephew), “Boy, you sure you ain't got some African in you?” (53). She speaks of a time where her and her family are fishing in Sacramento and Rodney is said to be “hunting” the fish and catching them with his bare hands while everyone else are using poles. I think she brings this up to say that they live in a time where people are raised to be “civil” and they don't really things that they primal ancestors would. It shows that not just African Americans, but everyone in the community should have handled this situation in a more civil manner rather than violence and riots. I love how these lines could have been about anyone during those times. It doesn't even apply to just one specific group because everyone during that time was being “wild.” California (especially SoCal/LA) has been pretty known for its diversity, but events like the 1992 riots should be known to see what the state had to go through to get to where it is now. This book really shows a view into what California (LA) was like during that time and the people who live in the community are just as important to the history. This play offers not only offers perspective but background and history to many types of people in the state. The communities were thrown off balance because of one catalyst event. This might have changed the opinions of some people and Anna Deavere Smith was able to showcase all of those perspectives in her book(play).

I've read several other rockstar biographies that are NOT autobiographies, and this will be the last one. The writer obviously was not getting input from his subject. In fact, Plant goes out of his way to attest that he'll never squeal. Nearly everything in this book is storyline hearsay from low-totem folks along the way like ex-drummers, sound guys, promoters, the dude who drove the bus, etc. Plus it was long and repetitive. In particular, one profound peave is how rock star biographers often like to tell you which of the subject's songs are good, and which aren't, in the author's opinion. That sucks since in Plant's Led Zeppelin phase, they rarely if ever produced a stinker -- in the reader's opinion.I'm going back to my original rule. Rockstar Autobiographies only!

I really enjoyed this book. For once, there is something for the reader who is interested in more than the sordid goings on of the early band.Very refreshing to hear of the musical influences and interests that inspired such a great performer. Also, very well written and told with much to glean from the music and how it all was formed.I hope that others would appreciate it as much for what it has as for what it does not. I found the stories of family, friends and associates very interesting reading.If you are a serious fan, you would be doing yourself an enormous disservice to skip reading this.Enjoy!

If you're a real fan, it's okay but over time gets tedious. Repetitive and predictable. Quickly you get the picture that he's a cheapskate, self absorbed and somewhat boring. Yes, he has one of THE great rock voices of all time and he's been kind to those close to him. One positive thing I can say, it's a far better read that the Jimmy Page bio. That book is for hardline Zep fans. If you want to know who took a poop when on the day they recorded Stairway to Heaven, then pick that one up. Excruciating detail about the mundane that takes the joy out of reading.

I’m a huge fan of Robert Plant, and very much wish he would release an autobiography. In the meantime I read this biography of his career. While Led Zeppelin is what made him so famous, his time in that band represents less than 25% of his entire career. This book would have been much better if it had focused heavier on his post-Zeppelin career. This artist reinvents himself regularly, and learning more about those changes would have been perfect. This book is not a bad read, just focused too much on the Zeppelin years.

The many moods and muses of Robert Plant are all captured by author Paul Rees in this very entertaining read. From the highest highs of "rock god" status to the lowest lows of family tragedy, Plant continues to move like a musical (and personal ) chameleon, easily stepping away from the massive success (and at times for him, shackles) of the world's greatest rock band Led Zeppelin to forge a solo career that leaves former partner Jimmy Page in the dust. The book does a wonderful job of detailing the true loves of his life (music and women), along with his ability to walk away from styles (and friends) as he sought his next inspiration

From youth to active legend the book covers Robert Plant's life mixing humorous events with stressful times - like the death of his son. Fans will enjoy the anecdotes as well as the stories behind the songs. Especially interesting is the personal relationship between the members of Led Zeppelin. A great read.

This is an excellent look at Robert Plant's life - with and without Led Zeppelin. It gives the reader a different perspective on his rationale for the music he has made and what keeps him going today. I blazed through these 400 pages in about 2-1/2 days. It was a great read. Recommended for any Zep fan.

I don't know why particularly but this one was just not as interesting as some of the other rock bios I have read. Maybe it was that I knew so much of it from before or that half the book was about his solo career.I love some of that music (particularly Principles of Moments) but there seemed excessive detail about this era. No slap at Robert...he is surely a God for the ages. Hard top Hammer of the Gods...if you are a real Zep fan.
