I've read four of the books in this collection so far, and just WOW! I've loved every single one.I always read out of order, so my reviews are in no way a list of which one is better.I'll start with Angela Kulig's Bone Deep because I've read the entire Skeleton Lake series, but I hadn't read this bonus book with Alex's POV. AMAZING and, at times, heartwrenching. I wanted to kick him, and then I wanted to hug him. There were so many emotions at play in this book, I literally felt them all. It's like that throughout the entire series. I'm a huge fan of Skeleton Lake and Skelton Song. If you haven't read them, you can get them in a box set. 5 stars!Blood Curse by Adrienne Blake - I absolutely adored this book! Holly is attempting to leave her life behind, but a freakin' vamp (and I generally salivate over vamps) hinders her plans. If not for Noah, a sexy-as-sin shapeshifter, stepping in to save her and introducing her into a supernatural world she had no idea existed, she would have been long dead.In this somewhat (and will be) steamy romance build-up, meet two kickbutt characters who decide to take matters into their own hands. Hands down, this is a five-star book! I've also had the pleasure of reading the first few chapters of book two, and let me tell you, it only gets better. Sizzle!Rightful Reign by Anna Applegate - I need more! This book left me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was dying... waiting on pins and needles to see what would happen next. The non-stop action had me reeling. I went straight to her website after to pre-order book 2. Darnit. I have to wait, but not for long. It's really that good! It will draw you in from word one and take you for a ride. 5 stars! Loved it!Forgotten Magic by Char Webster - I finished this sometime in the wee hours of the morning. I was left with my mouth hanging open. I went in search for book two, and thankfully, I won't have to wait too long. Char created a unique world of magic and characters unlike any I'd ever read before. I was intrigued and hooked from the beginning. Not to mention the humor--gotta have a little humor. The build-up for the blooming romance was smokin' hot (for me). I love a slow burn that gives you just a taste of what's to come. And the magic... I am a huge fan of magic in general, and the world building for this book was fantastic. I truly enjoyed it. I can't wait for book two! I need more!Overall FIVE STARS!
This review is for Fianna's Blood, which is the only book I've read in the collection. When Fianna’s Blood begins, Aisling and Ronan are on a date, happily trudging through a muddy valley while Ronan describes ancient battles. Aisling is still adjusting to wearing an eye patch to cover the Death curse she carries in her left eye. She’s worried the eye patch will slip and she's realizing that she needs to adjust for her loss of depth perception. While on their date, Aisling receives a call from Murtagh requesting Ronan’s assistance investigating a supposed cursed stone. Ronan's still worried the rest of the Fianna will discover his secrets, but he reluctantly agrees to help. Soon after the meeting, Aisling’s mark alerts her to a situation where they discover an old man/monster holding a woman against her will. They rescue the woman, but that leads them on a quest to find the creature, discover what it truly is, and stop it. This second installment in Warriors of Myth and Legend series was as enjoyable as the first. I enjoyed seeing how Aisling and Ronan's relationship grew and it's good seeing them work together against a common enemy. It's a little frustrating that the rest of the Fianna treat Aisling as a lesser Fianna, when in fact she's probably the strongest, but I think that will change as the series progresses. I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next one. Finally, I received an ARC of the book via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review. I would have purchased Fianna's Blood on my own anyway, so it in no way affected my review.
So far I've read Blood Curse by Adrienne Blake(I skip around in collections and anthologies). I loved the appeal of trying to break a curse to keep Holly's humanity. With the help of Noah the antisocial werewolf of course. You dont see many stories like this one so it increased the appeal factor for me. They're racing against the clock to find Micah and try to keep her humanity in tact. Along the way they learn more and more things and meet several people who unwittingly play roles as well. I loved the idea of the story and the execution of how it plays out as well. Its fantasy but with realistic twists in it too so you can relate to a lot of issues even with having that element of fantasy.Based on how much I loved Blood Curse I cant wait to finish diving into this collection
It was a short read and a lot happened... so very engaging... and who doesn't enjoy reading about Ireland and seeing myths coming to life! The paranormal/fantasy parts of the story was great with a few surprising elements and I like how the author draws us into that world as we learn more and more about the Fianna's... I expect quite a few twists and surprises as the series progresses. I've read all the other books of Nieto: Fairy Sworn, Ghostly Rhapsody and Exile of Angels - which I loved for different reasons (all 5 star stories)...I guess mostly I enjoyed the world the author creates and find the characters super intriguing, with a strong sense of mystery... which I'm glad is also in Fianna's Blood... but with the other books, the mystery is found both in the story progression as well as in the romance between the characters, I guess you could call it a sort of slow burn. While in Fianna's Blood the romantic interaction was way less mysterious and more the focus, in a physical sort of way... which is less attractive to me and make the characters feel a bit superficial. But I'm sure other readers wouldn't mind and would enjoy the book regardless :)I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
