In my search for something to fill my need, since i finished Outlander, This series is it I have read all 11 books, fell in love with all the characters, the history is correct and explained even though the characters are changing it in their timeline. I recommend starting with Daughter of Time. The are quick reads being 300 pages or so, instead of the 1000-1300 pages of Outlander, but is j6st as action pack and lovely. Can't wait for #12!I just purchased the audio for this book wanted to hear the names pronounced properly, the 2nd time around is even better.
What a wonderful time travel trip through historical fiction. Although the key players and their very similar Welsh names kept confusing me i really enjoyed this time travel story. As an American I really had no idea of the complicated Welsh and English history of the 12th and 13th century. Other than the character names, the writer's style is easy flowing and engaging. And an important note to those of you who care, its a clean read! The story is sweet. Brother and sister accidentally travelled back centuries. Luckily they adapted well, but the story is so much more with lots of surprises as they learn to thrive in their new circumstances. Looking forward to reading the next in the series. Definitely read them in order as the writer intended. It will make more sense as the story unfolds.
I started the After Cilmeri series with the prequel, "Daughter of Time", and was hooked before I was done. I'm fascinated with time travel, especially when there's a next to impossible romance involved. I couldn't wait to get into "Footsteps..." & wasn't disappointed. Hard to tell how special it was without dropping spoilers, but let me say it was full of surprises. Ms. Woodbury weaves a tapestry of light & dark threads that culminate in an awe-inspiring picture. I really enjoyed it from start to finish (ok, maybe I fast-forwarded through some of the battle scenes, but that's just me).
I bought this book immediately after reading the prequel (read that if you haven't because you gain a lot of important context and it adds tons to the experience). I liked David and Anna, although I wish Anna had had more interesting things happen to her, and done more stuff in general. David was a cool character, and I do want to read more about him. I was really happy in part two, for Meg and Llewellyn - that was cute! I liked the cover for book one better, and I wish the book were slightly more engaging at times, as the characters are occasionally boring. I will most likely move onto the next book soon!
I read it the first time when it first came out. I loved it then and I love it now. A wonderful taste of Welsh history. A bit violent in spots as it was a violent age. But Ms Woodbury does not revel in the violence and even a soul as woosy about violence as I am can easily get thru it. I look forward to the next book of the series
A very good book in a series about mideval Wales and the politics during that period. It is also about a family of Welsh extract that seems to time trip in a Honda to and from the time in Wales where the Welsh are having trouble with the English. It is a very enjoyable and well written book.
This was a fascinating book. I enjoy a storyline that takes me into the past, and this one did that and then some. It took me into a culture and time that I knew very little about before reading about it and the descriptions made it come alive in all its "gory" and glory. Definitely worth picking up for not only entertainment, but a little education thrown in too. I couldn't wait to read more about the characters in the story and immediately purchased another one of the books in the series.
Really love the history and storyline. I'm not usually a reader of history and this isn't a history book, but you can tell the author did her research. I liked the character's and their development. Sarah Woodbury moves the story along well while at the same time you get almost a history lesson. Love all the Welsh names. I bet this book would be even better as an audio book so you could hear the proper pronunciation of the Welsh words. I'm sure I'm not saying them correctly in my head! There's only thing I wish there had been more of in this story was more about Meg and Llewllyn. The first book in the series was about them and this continues it, but this book really their son David's story.
