About the Author

GEORGE BRETT is Vice President of Baseball Operations with the Royals. The 13-time All-Star played all 21 years of his career, from 1973 through 1993, for the Kansas City Royals and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. DENNY MATTHEWS is the lead Royals Radio Network play-by-play announcer. The Voice of the Royals has been with the club since its inception and was honored with the 2007 Ford C. Frick Award by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. DAYTON MOORE is the Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager of the Royals. He joined the organization in 2006. ERIC HOSMER made his MLB debut with the Royals in 2011 after being selected by the club in the 2008 June Draft out of American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida. He was a member of the 2015 World Series Champion Royals. BRET SABERHAGEN pitched for the Royals from 1984 through 1991. He won two Cy Young Awards (1985 and 1989) with the Royals and was the 1985 World Series Most Valuable Player. JEFF MONTGOMERY pitched for the Royals from 1988 through 1999. The three-time All-Star holds the franchise record with 304 career saves. FRANK WHITE played all 18 years of his Major League career, from 1973 through 1990, for the Kansas City Royals. The second baseman was a five-time All-Star and won eight Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for defensive excellence. ART STEWART joined the Royals in 1969 and served as Director of Scouting from 1984 through 1996. He is currently a Royals Senior Advisor to the General Manager. RYAN LEFEBVRE is a television and radio announcer for the Royals. He is entering his 20th season with the team. CURT NELSON is the Director of the Royals Hall of Fame. DICK KAEGEL is a former Royals beat writer for MLB.com. JEFFREY FLANAGAN is the current Royals beat writer for MLB.com.
